India A Get New Captain: Shreyas Iyer Takes Charge for Australia A Series, Patidar Leads Irani Cup Squad

Sports News: India A have changed their white-ball squad for the coming three-match series against Australia A. Shreyas Iyer, who was not originally included, has now been made captain. He was earlier in the plans for the two-match Test series against the West Indies but he choose to take a break from from red-ball cricket. This led to his selection as captain for India A’s limited-overs series.

Patidar to Lead in Irani Cup

Rajat Patidar, who was earlier chosen to lead India A, has now been moved to captain the Rest of India team in the Irani Cup. Patidar will lead the side when they face Ranji Trophy winners Vidarbha from October 1. Abhimanyu Easwaran has led both the Rest of India and India A teams in the past few years, but Patidar now seems to have taken over. The Madhya Pradesh player is also in the race for a place in the Test squad.

Abhishek Sharma Included in Australia A Series

Abhishek Sharma, who has shown strong form in T20Is, has been added for the series against Australia A. He has been picked for the second and third List A matches.

India A squad for the rest of the ODI matches: Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Tilak Verma (Vice-Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh (Wicket-Keeper), Riyan Parag, Ayush Badoni, Suryansh Shedge, Vipraj Nigam, Nishant Sindhu, Gurjapneet Singh, Yudhvir Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Abhishek Porel (Wicket-Keeper), Harshit Rana, and Arshdeep Singh.
